How do you define "woman"?
If you tell us that you identify as a woman (and do so at the time of the conference), we believe you. We welcome trans women, non-binary women, cisgendered women, and others.
Why is it called "Signata"?
Signata means "she signed" or "she sealed" in latin. We wanted a name that signifies an action of power and identity.
Why is there an application for a conference?
Our mission is to invite people in, not keep people out. The application format empowers us to maintain an inclusive culture and space of welcome and safety. Additionally, because we are not-for-profit, we can only support a limited number of spaces, and want to make sure to have a diverse array of participants.
How will meals work during the conference?
The conference will have plenty of snacks, but meals are not included. There will be a one-hour lunch break on both days. The venue is located near many wonderful local restaurants, and we encourage participants to share the lunch hour together. On Saturday night, there will also be optional breakout dinners at local restaurants.
Is there anything I should do to prepare?
Just bring yourself and comfortable clothing, and we'll do the rest.
I have a concern about how you are handling something.
We are committed to constantly working to be more inclusive. We welcome call-ins, call-outs, and feedback of all kinds. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns, and please indicate whether you would be open to followup.
I need a disability accommodation.
Please contact us and we will do our absolute best to accommodate you.
I have a dietary restriction.
Please mention it on the application form and we will include it in our food plans.
